Job summary
We are looking for a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and data processing systems. The role will work closely with data analysts, business teams, and software engineers to transform raw data into high-quality, accessible datasets. Success in the first 90 days includes understanding existing data pipelines, improving data quality, contributing to ETL/ELT workflows, and delivering reliable data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data.
- Extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries for data processing and analysis.
- Work with databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot data-quality or performance issues.
- Implement data validation and quality checks.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Business Analysts, and software engineers.
- Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines.
- Support reporting and analytics teams with reliable datasets.
- Follow data security, governance, and best practices.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Good understanding of data structures and data modeling.
- Experience with Python for data processing and automation.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Apache Spark or similar distributed-processing frameworks.
- Knowledge of Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with Docker and Git.
- Understanding of data quality, governance, and security.
