We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with 10+ years of professional experience who can translate programme objectives and business requirements into secure, practical, and implementation-ready technical architectures. The ideal candidate combines strong architectural judgement with hands-on understanding of Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, GitHub-based DevOps practices, and security-first design principles. The successful candidate will work closely with principal engineers, security specialists, and enterprise architecture teams to evaluate design options, address concerns, explain technical trade-offs, and guide solutions through implementation. This role requires continued engagement throughout delivery, clear technical documentation, effective handover, and a commitment to building team capability rather than creating dependency on a single architect. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, independent stakeholder management, and the confidence to engage effectively with UK stakeholders. Two specialisations are available: Azure and Kubernetes architecture, or architecture across the Snowflake data platform.
Translate programme objectives and business requirements into detailed, practical technical architecture. Develop architecture designs that engineers can use directly for implementation. Evaluate architectural options, document trade-offs, and justify design decisions. Apply Infrastructure as Code and DevOps principles, with Terraform and GitHub as core technologies. Design secure solutions using zero-trust principles and appropriate identity and access controls. Work with principal engineers, security teams, and enterprise architecture reviewers. Understand stakeholder concerns and resolve architectural objections through evidence-based discussions. Remain involved throughout implementation, overseeing sequencing, integration, and transition into team workflows. Ensure architecture decisions, implementation guidance, and operational handover are documented. Coach engineering teams and enable them to maintain and evolve delivered solutions independently. Communicate architecture decisions, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to UK stakeholders.
