Job summary
We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our data team. The intern will assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, preparing and transforming data, and supporting data engineering projects. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience with databases, SQL, Python, ETL processes, and cloud-based data technologies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Collect, extract, and transform data from various sources.
- Write and optimize basic SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
- Assist in designing and maintaining databases and data warehouses.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality checks.
- Monitor data pipelines and help troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Work with senior data engineers to improve data processing workflows.
- Support the integration of data from APIs, databases, and other sources.
- Document data pipelines, processes, and technical requirements.
- Assist with automation of repetitive data-processing tasks.
- Ensure data is accurate, reliable, and available for analytics teams.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Basic knowledge of Python.
- Understanding of databases and data structures.
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT concepts.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Basic knowledge of Apache Spark.
- Familiarity with tools such as Databricks or Airflow.
- Understanding of data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Experience with Git/GitHub.
- Academic or personal projects involving data pipelines or databases.
