Job summary

HCLTech is looking for skilled GCP Data Engineers to join its data engineering team. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud services including Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and Firestore, along with strong Python and SQL programming skills. The candidate should also have a solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, data modelling, data quality, and cloud-based data engineering practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes using GCP data services.
Develop data processing pipelines using Google Cloud Dataflow.
Design and implement data solutions using BigQuery.
Work with Pub/Sub for real-time and event-driven data processing.
Manage and process data using Google Cloud Storage.
Work with Cloud SQL and Firestore for data storage and application requirements.
Develop efficient SQL queries and data transformation logic.
Build and maintain data warehouses and analytical data models.
Perform data profiling, validation, and quality checks.
Optimise data pipelines and queries for performance and cost efficiency.
Troubleshoot data pipeline and production issues.
Collaborate with data architects, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders.
Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and availability.
Follow development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and documentation standards.

Required qualifications

4–7 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
Strong experience with Google Cloud Dataflow.
Strong experience with Google BigQuery.
Experience with Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
Experience with Google Cloud Storage.
Experience with Cloud SQL and/or Firestore.
Strong Python programming skills.
Strong SQL skills.
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes.
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
Strong understanding of data modelling.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and focus on data accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred qualifications

Experience designing enterprise-scale GCP data platforms.
Experience with real-time and streaming data pipelines.
Experience with advanced BigQuery optimisation and performance tuning.
Experience with CI/CD and Git-based development practices.
Knowledge of cloud security and access-control concepts.
Experience with data governance and data-quality frameworks.
Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting production data pipelines.
Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Data Engineer are an advantage.
